How to Support the AV S.T.E.A.M. League
Empowering the Next Generation of Makers, Dreamers, and Builders
The AV S.T.E.A.M. League is powered by community partnership and corporate generosity. Our programs are funded solely through corporate sponsorships and contributions made via our recognized 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6) fiscal sponsor organizations.
We do not request or accept payments or private monetary donations — our mission is to give every student access to hands-on learning opportunities completely free of charge.
However, there are many meaningful ways to help.
🤝 Volunteer Your Time (Mentors, Creatives & Event Support)
If you have a heart for kids and a little time, you’re exactly who we need. Adult mentors guide student teams, encourage problem-solving, and model good maker habits — no robotics experience required; we provide training, materials, and ongoing support. Creatives (artists, designers, storytellers) help students bring ideas to life through visual design, narrative, and presentation. Event support & supervisors keep our activities running smoothly — helping with check-in, safety, pit organization, field reset, timing/judging assistance, and general supervision. Whether you can give a single event shift or join a team throughout a season, your presence directly impacts our AV kids.
🧰 We Are Currently in Need Of:
1. Computer Hardware, Used Laptops, and Equipment
Technology drives everything we do — coding, robot programming, digital design, and documentation. Gently used laptops, desktops, monitors, mice/keyboards, webcams, and power supplies can become classroom workstations and team programming hubs. Each device you share helps a student get hands-on with real tools and real code.
2. Maker and Shop Tools
Our students learn by building. We welcome hand tools (pliers, cutters, screwdrivers), soldering stations, small power tools, 3D printers/filament, electronics kits, breadboards, sensors, servos, fasteners, and safety gear. These tools let students prototype, iterate, and transform ideas into working mechanisms — turning curiosity into confidence.
3. Video, stage, and performance equipment
We are also seeking video, stage, and performance equipment to help bring our student events and showcases to life. Items such as cameras, tripods, microphones, lighting gear, audio mixers, projectors, and small PA systems allow us to capture student projects, document competitions, and create inspiring presentations that share their work with the community. This equipment helps our students learn real-world production skills while giving their creativity the spotlight it deserves.
4. Locations for Classes and Small Events
As we expand across the Antelope Valley, we’re seeking safe, accessible spaces for workshops, mentor sessions, and exhibitions. Ideal spaces include classrooms, community rooms, makerspaces, warehouses, or offices that can host 10–20 students with tables, power access, and basic seating. Your space can become a hub for creativity and collaboration.
💬 Let’s Connect — Your Support Makes a Real Difference
If you or your organization can provide time, tools, equipment, or space, we’d love to talk. Even if you’re not sure whether what you have fits, reach out anyway — we’ll work with you to find the best match for our students and programs. Together, we can build a league where creativity and opportunity go hand in hand.
