Grades 3–5 | Where Imagination Meets Code

League of Young Coders

Where Imagination Meets Code

The League of Young Coders introduces our youngest makers to the power of programming through creativity, play, and storytelling. This hands-on program transforms coding from something abstract into something children can see, touch, and shape — helping them discover that technology isn’t just something they use, but something they can create with.

In each session, students learn to think like creators, not just users. They bring their own ideas to life as games, interactive stories, and digital animations — learning the logic behind the magic in a fun, supportive, and exploratory environment.

Two Learning Tracks

Scratch – Visual Coding for Young Creators

Scratch is where most young coders begin their journey. Using drag-and-drop code blocks, students design animated stories, characters, and games — learning programming fundamentals like loops, logic, sequencing, and events without worrying about syntax. Scratch’s colorful, visual interface builds confidence quickly, allowing even first-time coders to see instant results and feel empowered by what they can make.
Best for: Younger students and those new to coding or digital storytelling.

Roblox Studio – Game Design for the Next Generation

In the Roblox track, students take their next step into text-based programming, learning to code inside the same platform that powers millions of games worldwide. Using the Lua scripting language, they explore real-world concepts such as variables, functions, and event-driven programming — all while designing their own playable environments. The Roblox environment encourages creativity, collaboration, and entrepreneurial thinking as students share and test their creations with peers.
Best for: Older or returning students ready for more advanced logic, 3D design, and open-ended challenges.

Program Focus Areas

  • Visual Programming and Storytelling: Turning code into stories and ideas into interactive experiences.
  • Logic, Loops, and Sequencing: Building the foundation for computational thinking.
  • Creative Collaboration: Working in teams to design, debug, and celebrate shared success.
  • Digital Literacy: Understanding how technology works and how to shape it responsibly.
  • Design Thinking: Encouraging experimentation, iteration, and creativity as part of problem-solving.

Technology Access and Support

To ensure every student can participate, we provide all necessary software, accounts, and online connections for active students in our programs. During our in-person training sessions, students have access to fully equipped computers and workstations, so no one is held back by a lack of equipment.

We are also exploring the development of an online afternoon club, allowing students to continue learning, coding, and connecting from home after school hours. This new program would open participation to a wider audience and create a digital community where creativity and curiosity continue to thrive beyond the classroom.

Outcomes

By the end of the League, students will:

  • Understand the core principles of computer science.
  • Develop confidence using technology as a creative tool.
  • Strengthen logic, patience, and problem-solving skills.
  • Leave inspired to keep exploring — ready to imagine, build, and code their own worlds.

Every class is an adventure in imagination and discovery — proving that coding is not just a skill for the future, but a language for creativity today.
