A League of Makers, Dreamers, and Robot Builders

Purpose

The AV S.T.E.A.M. League exists to empower students of the Antelope Valley with creativity, confidence, and technical skills through Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics.
Participation in the League is a privilege — not a right — and every student agrees to uphold the values of respect, teamwork, integrity, and curiosity that make this program thrive.

1. Conduct Expectations

As a member of the AV S.T.E.A.M. League, I agree to:

  • Treat all mentors, teammates, competitors, and staff with respect and courtesy.
  • Maintain a positive attitude during all classes, workshops, and competitions.
  • Use safe and responsible behavior when handling tools, electronics, or materials.
  • Protect League property and the property of others.
  • Communicate openly and respectfully when solving problems or disagreements.
  • Support my team, show good sportsmanship, and help others learn whenever possible.
  • Avoid profanity, bullying, harassment, or any form of discrimination.

2. Participation Commitment

I understand that:

  • I am expected to attend scheduled sessions, practices, and events on time and prepared.
  • I will complete assignments, projects, or team tasks to the best of my ability.
  • I will actively contribute ideas, effort, and teamwork to my group.
  • I will represent the AV S.T.E.A.M. League with pride and professionalism in all settings.
  • If I am unable to attend or complete work, I will communicate with my mentor or coach.

3. The AV S.T.E.A.M. League Pledge

Before participating in my first event, I will recite the following pledge to my mentor or instructor to show my commitment to learning and teamwork:

“I am a maker and a learner.
I will respect my team, my mentors, and my tools.
I will think, design, build, and share with purpose.
I will face challenges with creativity, courage, and curiosity.
I am proud to be part of the AV S.T.E.A.M. League —
where imagination becomes invention.”

Each student must be able to recite this pledge confidently and with understanding before participating in any official competition or event.

4. Grounds for Dismissal

The AV S.T.E.A.M. League reserves the right to suspend or remove any student from participation if:

  • The student violates the Code of Conduct or acts in a way that endangers themselves or others.
  • The student repeatedly fails to attend required sessions or meet team obligations.
  • The student or parent disrupts the learning environment or refuses to follow safety instructions.
  • The student demonstrates disrespect toward mentors, staff, or peers.
  • The student or parent fails to adhere to the League’s policies, safety rules, or competition guidelines.

Decisions regarding dismissal or suspension are made by the AV S.T.E.A.M. League administration and are final. Our goal is always to encourage growth, accountability, and second chances — but continued participation depends on a student’s willingness to learn, cooperate, and respect others.

5. Agreement and Signature

By signing below, I acknowledge that I have read and understood this Student Participation Agreement and agree to follow all guidelines and expectations of the AV S.T.E.A.M. League. I understand that my participation is a privilege based on respect, responsibility, and teamwork.
