A League of Makers, Dreamers, and Robot Builders
Purpose
The AV S.T.E.A.M. League is a privately operated educational initiative created to inspire and empower young people through hands-on learning in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. We are not affiliated with any school district or government agency, and we rely on community partnership and family involvement to make this program possible.
Participation in the League is a shared responsibility between students, mentors, and parents. This agreement ensures that every family understands the expectations and values that make our programs safe, engaging, and successful.
1. Parent Commitment
As a parent or guardian, I understand that:
- The AV S.T.E.A.M. League is not a childcare or drop-off program.
- I am expected to remain actively engaged in my child’s participation — to the level of my ability.
- My involvement may include mentoring, supervision, helping with setup or cleanup, assisting during events, transporting students, or contributing skills or materials as needed.
- I will maintain open communication with mentors, coaches, and organizers regarding my child’s progress and participation.
- I will support the League’s mission to build confidence, creativity, and teamwork in every student.
2. Conduct and Support
I agree to:
- Model respect, patience, and positivity during all League activities and events.
- Encourage my child to uphold the Student Participation Agreement and to approach challenges with persistence and curiosity.
- Follow all safety instructions and site guidelines when present at any League activity.
- Refrain from disruptive behavior, negative comments, or interference with mentors, staff, or other students.
- Communicate any concerns directly and respectfully with League staff.
3. Child Protective Policy and AB 506 Compliance
The safety and well-being of every student in our programs is our highest priority. In accordance with California Assembly Bill 506 (AB 506) and our own Child Protective Policy, all mentors, instructors, and volunteers who work with minors are required to complete mandated reporter training, background screening, and adhere to our Two-Deep Supervision Rule—ensuring that no adult is ever alone with a child at any time.
As a parent or guardian, your participation plays an essential role in maintaining this safe and supportive environment. Parents are expected to help us uphold these standards by remaining engaged, supporting proper supervision, and immediately reporting any concerns to program leadership. Together, we can provide a secure, transparent, and positive experience for every participant.
4. Participation Expectation
The success of each League program depends on collaboration and shared effort.
Families are encouraged to contribute in ways that match their time, skills, and comfort level. Whether helping during events, assisting as mentors, lending materials, or simply being present for encouragement — every parent plays a part in creating an inspiring environment for our students.
Failure to remain engaged or to follow the guidelines of this agreement may result in the student’s suspension or removal from the program.
5. Organizational Statement
The AV S.T.E.A.M. League is a privately funded organization, supported through corporate sponsorships and community partnerships, not through school or government funding.
Participation is a privilege, extended to families who share our commitment to integrity, safety, creativity, and collaboration.
6. Agreement and Acknowledgment
By signing below, I acknowledge that I have read and understood this Parent Participation Agreement and agree to abide by its terms.
I understand that my role as a parent or guardian is vital to the success of my child and the League as a whole.
I agree to remain an active participant in the AV S.T.E.A.M. League community and to support its mission of empowering young minds through creativity and hands-on learning.
